John Hardin, CCIM, vice president of office sales and leasing at J.H. Berry & Gilbert, was recently quoted in an article by AL.com about J.H. Berry’s work in the sale of Homewood’s University Building. The 40,000-square-foot property is located at 85 Bagby Drive and was sold to a Florida investor in December 2016 for $1.62 million. Bill Smith, a local investor and CEO of Shipt, purchased the building with 40 percent occupancy in September 2013. After significant renovations and lease-up by Smith and his team, they were able to increase the building’s occupancy to 88 percent at the time of sale. “Our firm was glad to have the opportunity to represent Mr. Smith in both the purchase of the building and, after a number of his own creative renovations and lease-up, in the building’s final sale,” Hardin said. J.H. Berry’s Philip Currie, SIOR, CCIM, president, and Cooper Smith, leasing and brokerage associate, also represented Mr. Smith in the purchase and subsequent sale of the property. Read article.
