Our employee Q&A series rolls on with the next spotlight landing on Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Christopher Thames.
Since graduating from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in business administration, Christopher has impacted our team with his leadership and market expertise. His experience in building maintenance and tenant relations has equipped him to lead office building management operations, lease renewals and new construction efforts for the company.
Christopher is a life member of the Million Dollar Sales Club. He is actively engaged in the Southeastern commercial real estate industry through his involvement with the Birmingham Commercial Realtors Council, Alabama CCIM and the Institute of Real Estate Management.
In 2011, Christopher was recognized in the Birmingham Business Journal’s Top 40 under 40 for his successful career in commercial real estate.
What inspired you to pursue a career in commercial real estate? After meeting Carey Gilbert, I was immediately inspired to pursue commercial real estate. Carey is a great mentor and has provided me with excellent guidance throughout my career.
How have you seen Birmingham’s commercial real estate market grow in recent years? The rebirth of the downtown and Southside markets has been extremely exciting to see, and I look forward to what the city has in store over the next few years.
If you could describe Birmingham’s commercial real estate industry in three words or phrases, what would they be? Steady, exciting and full of opportunity
What do you think makes the culture at J.H. Berry unique? J.H. Berry feels like family to me, which I think is extremely rare. I can honestly say I get to work with some of my best friends every day.
How do you spend your down time? I enjoy coaching baseball, hunting, golfing and traveling with my 3 (very) active kids and wife.
