Carey Gilbert, II

Carey Gilbert, chairman of JH Berry, is recognized nationally as a leading veteran broker, and known for his tenacity in leveraging his deep understanding of commercial real estate with his extensive experience for his clients. His valued understanding of the industry and dedication to his clients has delivered Carey the opportunity to broker transactions of all sizes and complexities and to establish positive long-term relationships.

Career Experience & Accomplishments

Carey is a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), a Counselors of Real Estate (CRE) past member and a Society of Industrial & Office Realtors (SIOR) office and industrial specialist. He led the nation in SIOR’s Member to Member Transaction Award for the largest number of transactions in 2013. Carey was a top producer and is a life member of the Commercial Million Dollar Sales Club and a former regional director of SIOR. He has received numerous SIOR National Awards for the largest number of cooperative transactions (first place: 1999, 2006, 2009, 2013; second place: 1997, 1998, 2003, 2005, 2007; third place: 2000, 2002, 2008).

He is a former director, treasurer and secretary of Alabama CCIM Chapter and served a term as Regional Director of SIOR. Additionally, Carey was formerly chairman of the Alabama Counselors of Real Estate Chapter and chapter treasurer, secretary and president of the SIOR LA/MS/AL/ Northwest Florida chapter.

Education

Carey earned his Master of Real Estate from Auburn University and his Bachelor of Science in real estate and finance from The University of Alabama.

Community Engagement

Carey is an active member of the Birmingham community, currently serving as a member of UAB Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Center Board, Monday Morning Quarterback Club, Children’s Harbor Board of Directors, Auburn University Master of Real Estate Development Advisory Board. Past member of St. Vincent’s Hospital Finance Committee & Foundation Board. He was heavily involved with Boy Scouts of America, serving as a former eagle board member, former troop treasurer and has completed the Philmont Ranch Trek. He is a past vestry member and warden of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. Carey was chairman of the PGA Golf Tournament Uniform Committee at Shoal Creek and a JH Ranch Father/Daughter participant. Carey is also a graduate of the Leadership Birmingham Class of 2009 , a former University of Alabama ACRE and Trustee, and currently serves Volunteer Chaplain at UAB Hospital.
