Paulk Turner

Paulk Turner, MAI, director of the Appraisal and Valuation Services division within JH Berry, performs a wide variety of commercial property appraisal, consulting and analytical services. He has more than 18 years of experience in a variety of commercial property types including: office, industrial, medical, retail, multi-family, large-acreage tracts of land and institutional uses.

Career Experience & Accomplishments

Paulk has an established reputation of providing accurate and reliable valuation services by diligently working to collect the most current market data and utilizing the latest methodologies and techniques, and is currently a Certified General Real Property Appraiser in the State of Alabama. He also received his MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute in 2015. The Appraisal Institute is a global membership association of professional real estate appraisers that began in 1932 and currently has approximately 23,000 members in 60 countries. The mission of the Appraisal Institute is, β€œto advance professionalism and ethics, global standards, methodologies, and practices through the professional development of property economics worldwide.”

Prior to joining JH Berry, Paulk was a commercial appraiser with Hasha Appraisal & Consulting Service, Inc. in Birmingham for 10 years, and he began his appraisal career at Benton Advisory Group, Ltd. in Marietta, Georgia in late 2000. Since beginning his appraisal career, he has completed over 700 appraisal and consulting assignments in a wide variety of property types.

Education

Paulk Turner graduated from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts in history. He has completed over 10 courses from the Appraisal Institute as part of the program’s curriculum prior to achieving his MAI designation, along with multiple other courses and seminars throughout his career. Most recently, he has completed the specialized appraisal courses of Condemnation Appraising – Principles & Procedures in 2017; Litigation Appraising – Specialized Topics & Applications in 2018; and Attacking & Defending an Appraisal in Litigation in 2019.

Community Engagement

Paulk previously served as the planning committee co-chair for Bethany Village at Camp McDowell and is an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church.
