Bill Gunn, SIOR, CCIM, senior vice president at J.H. Berry & Gilbert, recently was cited in an article by the Birmingham Business Journal about the rising trend of industrial-office flex space in the Magic City. Bill describes some examples of innovative companies using existing warehouse or industrial buildings as flex space, such as Fetch, a tech-based recruiting company that recently moved into a flex space on Sixth Avenue South. Along with tech companies, those that do online business can use flex space to operate both office and warehouse space in the same building, leading to lower costs. Bill also explains that while companies can turn existing warehouse space and industrial buildings into flex space, there is also a short supply of buildings that would fit the bill. Read article.
